There are currently several researchers, agencies, and consulting firms developing sediment and nutrient models for the Yahara Lakes. After the completion of these models, we plan to incorporate these modeling efforts into INFOS to provide real-time information. Therefore, the real-time sediment loading can be embedded into the INFOS hydrodynamic model to provide information into which loading source sites may contribute to large lake disturbances. Preliminary hydrodynamic modeling results indicate that sediment transport is predominately dominated by long-shore currents although there are other secondary effects that may play a role.
