Tenney Beach - Lake Monona

ADDRESS:
1300 Sherman Ave, Madison
DIRECTIONS:
In Tenney Park, near the locks
DESCRIPTION:
The city's oldest park, Tenney Park was established in 1899, and is situated on the east shore of Lake Mendota, near the Yahara River inlet. The park is a popular spot for boats, especially those waiting to use the Tenney Park locks to travel between Lakes Mendota and Monona via the Yahara River.

Between 2005 and 2009, the beach was closed 13 times (30 days total) due to high levels of blue green algae. Tenney is the only city beach that was never closed due to high bacteria levels during this time.
