Marshall Beach - Lake Mendota

ADDRESS:
2101 Allen Blvd, Madison
DIRECTIONS:
In Marshall Park
DESCRIPTION:
The City of Madison purchased the property for Marshall Park in 1956. The land is situated on the west shore of Lake Mendota, allowing it to usually be free of weeds and other wind blown debris.

The beach is approximately 72 feet long and 18 feet wide, with an average slope of 9.8%. Between 2005 and 2009, the beach has closed 11 times (44 days total) due to high levels of bacteria and/or blue green algae. There is a parking lot and boat launch located within close proximity to the beach area. There is also a storm outfall located just north of the beach, and while the City of Madison owns the park property surrounding the beach, most of the stormwater that drains to the site originates within the City of Middleton.
