Lake Mendota County Park Beach - Lake Mendota

ADDRESS:
5130 Century Ave, Middleton WI
DIRECTIONS:
Located off Cty Hwy M near the intersection of Cty Hwy Q and M, near Middleton in the Town of Westport
DESCRIPTION:
This 20-acre neighborhood park is located along the north shore of Lake Mendota in the City of Middleton. In 1832, a trading post was established on this property. Prior to that the Ho-Chunk and others used the area as a gathering place. According to the Ho-Chunk West Point, located just east of the park, was home to the Thunderbirds, gods that symbolized power, strength, and nobility. At one point it was platted as "City of Four Lakes" during discussions about the future capital of Wisconsin.

There is a boat ramp at the park. Ice fishing is popular just off of the park shore. There isn't a sandy beach, rather an accessible swimming ramp is provided.
