We have integrated a real-time, one dimensional water temperature model into the INFOS platform for the Yahara Lakes. Meteorological data is used as the forcing condition input for the numerical model. Past research has shown that the Yahara Lakes stratify from approximately May to October and throughout the summer, a metalimnion separates the warm epilimnion water from the cooler hypolimnion. However, the depths of these layers vary from lake to lake as well as seasonal mixing. The temperature model consists of predicting water column temperature, onset of lake stratification, and mixing periods.
